BOWIE JUNIOR HIGH NOTEBOOK: Cottontail 7’s beat Brock with ‘D’

The Bowie Junior High School boys’ basketball teams opened the 2014-15 season on Monday, with split results against visiting Brock.
The Bowie seventh-graders played strong full-court defense and rolled to a comfortable early lead en route to a 35-17 victory.
In the seventh-grade game, Bowie had a 16-2 intermission edge. Six of Bowie’s eight players scored, paced by nine each from Davis Shackelford and Heston Tole.
Brock’s offense was dominant in the eighth-grade game, as the Eagles prevailed over the Cottontails 70-36.
Justin Franklin had the most points for Bowie here, with 18 points.
The Cottontails found themselves in a 20-point hole early, and climbed within 11 in the second quarter before falling further behind again.
The seventh-graders are 1-0 while the eighth-graders are still seeking their first win.
Bowie will have tournament
