Commissioners update personnel, safety policies

After many months of working to update the personnel and the safety policy manuals, Montague County Commissioners approved those changes during their Monday session.
This has been a long process as the court worked to make sure the policies were compliant with state laws and Texas Association of Counties policies.
The court has been working with its new human resources officer, Jennifer Fenoglio, who also serves as county treasurer. Last month, she informed the court the primary questions remaining were centered on drug and alcohol testing and if it would be expanded to all employees, instead of only those holding commercial driver’s licenses for their county jobs.

The regular meeting of the Bowie City Council for July 22 has been cancelled. City Manager Bert Cunningham and Mayor Gaylynn Burris will be attending the Texas Public Power Association conference.
City of Bowie officials were on hand to inspect the emergency electrical generators that were delivered last week.
Mayor Gaylynn Burris and City Manager Bert Cunningham inspected one of three emergency electrical generators purchased as part of an ongoing Federal Emergency Management Agency Hazard Mitigation Grant. They also talked with Jay Evans, head of the city electric department, and Jerry Sutton, director of the water treatment plant about the next step for installation of the generators.
This grant provides funding for one 150 kW and two 250 kW generators for use at the water treatment plant.
