YEAR IN REVIEW: Forestburg football qualifies for playoffs

As we Montague County folk know, making the UIL postseason tournament isn’t easy.
Forestburg was the only school from the county to accomplish this, playing Chillicothe in the opening round of the Conference 1A, Division II playoffs.
The Longhorns were close to pulling off an upset, with a second-half lead before the Eagles prevailed by a count of 58-41.
The Longhorns finished 6-4 with impressive wins over Saint Jo, Tioga, Denton Calvary and Wichita Christian.
They look poised for a bright future with a cast featuring running back Daniel Sharon, quarterback Matthew Wallace and senior Malaci Moore, who shall be injury free by the time practice begins in August, plus experienced 6-man coach Wayne Tuckwell. Forestburg qualifying for the playoffs was the No. 4 sports story of 2014.
