Outside agency tip leads to arrest of 3 for drugs

Published

on

Information from an outside law enforcement agency led to the arrest of three people who were believed to be in Bowie for the purpose of selling methamphetamine.
Bowie Police Sgt. Bob Blackburn said the department received details of possible drug activity planned in Bowie on Jan. 6 including the identification of a possible suspect and vehicle. It was part of an ongoing collaborative investigation with Department of Public Safety Narcotics and Homeland Security.
Patrol officers were provided with the details and that afternoon Officer Cody Stone observed the vehicle leaving the 100 block of Montague Street.
Stone made an “investigative stop” with the vehicle at Cummins and Wise Streets. Blackburn said the officer talked to a passenger, Billy Ray Camron, 36, Wichita Falls, who Stone said was uncooperative. A pat-down search of Camron revealed a large amount of what was believed to be methamphetamine on his person and drug paraphernalia.
