Prairie Valley vs Forestburg
The Prairie Valley basketball teams picked up wins against Forestburg on Tuesday night.
The Lady Bulldogs won 59-39 while the Bulldogs won 68-40 against the Longhorn teams.
In the girl’s game, Prairie Valley started off fast, going up 14-2. Foul trouble hurt the Lady Bulldogs as Forestburg players, specifically Allie Ciseneros, drew tons of free throw attempts.
Forestburg was chasing Prairie Valley all game after the first quarter and while the team scored well, just struggled to keep up with the Lady Bulldogs hot shooting from 3-point range as they made 13 in the game.
The Lady Horns cut it to five points at one point, but foul trouble and limited depth meant they finished the game with only four players.
Prairie Valley stayed poised and was able to use that to its advantage as it ended up winning by double-digits 59-39.
Makaylee Gomez had a season high 30 points for the Lady Bulldogs as she made eight 3-pointers. Carmen Gomez scored 12 points and passed out 10 assists. Linzie Priddy joined the sisters in double-digits with 11 points.
For Forestburg, Cisneros scored a season high 28 points, with 13 points coming at the free throw line as she went 13-15. Madisen Deason was second with eight points, but blocked three shots. Rachel Allen grabbed a team high eight rebounds.
In the boy’s game, it was a similar story as Prairie Valley came out hot up 31-5 after the first quarter which is the most it has scored in any quarter.
The Bulldogs were using their defensive pressure and hustle to get offensive rebounds to make up for a not so great night shooting the ball.
The Longhorns eventually got things going and played more competitively, but the score was out of reach for a chance to come back as Prairie Valley won 68-40.
Tyler Winkler led the Bulldogs with 26 points and eight steals. Tyson Easterling put up a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds. Dakota Fore nearly joined him scoring nine points and grabbing nine rebounds.
For Forestburg, Jesus Sanchez led the team with 20 points while Jesse Wadsworth was second with nine points. Nathan Payne and Angel Cruz each grabbed a team high seven rebounds.
Saint Jo vs Bellevue
The Saint Jo Lady Panthers won easily at Bellevue on Tuesday night.
The Lady Panthers won 63-27 against the young Lady Eagles.
Saint Jo used its pressure defense to push the tempo and play fast like it likes to do to race out to a one-side win. Lady Panther Coach Daniel Lindenborn thought the team did a good job of cutting down on fouling so much, which has been an issue he has addressed in practice.
No coaches from Saint Jo or Bellevue responded about the boy’s game, but the score recorded on Maxpreps says the Panthers won 60-32.
Gold-Burg
The Gold-Burg Lady Bears lost a tough one at state-ranked Slidell on Tuesday night.
The Lady Greyhounds won 59-34 against the Lady Bears, but despite the score Coach Cheryl Cromleigh thought there were many positive things to take away.
Sierra Weaver along with Shadie and Sadie Whitaker each had seven points to lead the team.
The Gold-Burg boy’s coach did not get back with any information about the game, but the score on Maxpreps was reported to be 86-27 in favor of Slidell.

Saint Jo hosted its own volleyball tournament Sept. 10-12.
In its first match, the Lady Panthers bested Sam Rayburn in a b est-of-three match 2-1 (25-11, 23-25, 25-14.) In the opener, senior Tatum Morman staked the Lady Panthers to a 4-0 lead with help from Kamron Skidmore and Olivia Johnson kills. The Lady Rebels would come back and tie the game at seven.
Savannah Hill’s kill broke serve and allowed Abby Carter to string together seven points. An ace and a Hill kill helped keep the drive alive. Hill later rolled off six points in a row, helped by two aces, to go up 23-10. Sam Rayburn broke serve but Saint Jo finished the game with a single Morman point.
Sam Rayburn came right out of the gate firing in the second game leading 4-0. A single Carter point, thrown down by a Hill block, and Hill’s four-point skein put the Lady Panthers up 8-6. Sam Rayburn tied the game at eight.

Forestburg’s volleyball team gave visiting Chico a solid test Sept. 8, but the Lady Dragons rebounded from a third-set loss to pull out the 3-1 win (25-23, 25-19, 25-27, 25-19).
The Lady Longhorns got out to a quick start with aces from freshmen Madi Wadsworth and Lacie Shotwell staking the squad to a 4-1 lead in game one. Wadsworth later broke a 4-all tie with a kill.
Addy Conway rolled off four straight points, helped by a Wadsworth kill to give Forestburg an 11-9 lead. Chico took a 16-14 lead but a Brenna Briles ace and Jocelyn Rich’s two points forced Chico into a timeout down 17-19.
The respite worked as it would be Forestburg’s last lead of game one, the Lady ‘Horns not having another serving point.

After splitting the first two games with Vernon Northside, Bowie’s volleyball team turned things out and wound with a 3-1 match win (25-17, 15-25, 25-17, 25-17).
Molly Enlow used two aces amidst a four-point string to give the Lady Rabbits a 5-1 lead in game one. Senior KP Rutherford’s pair of points extended the lead to 8-3.
Northside cut the deficit to 10-11 before Rutherford’s kill broke serve.
Bella Culwell’s point, aided by an Ellie Mowery kill, put Bowie up 13-10. Northside tied the game at 13 before Rutherford came through with another pair for a 17-14 lead. Lillie Maddox also had a deuce for a 20-15 lead and force a Lady INdian timeout.
Northside broke serve but a Sophie Maddox block and Lillie Maddox three-point string gave the squad game point at 24-16. The squads exchanged side outs to end the game.
