Bowie boy’s win at last week’s Era track meet

The Bowie track teams competed at Era last week to get ready for this week’s district meet.
The boy’s team came back with a first place win while the girl’s team finished in sixth place.
The Jackrabbits had Tucker Jones finish first in the long jump, 110 meter and 300 meter hurdles. Case Curry also won the pole vault.
The team also had many second place finishes with Braden Rhyne being runner-up in the 300 meter hurdles and high jump. Tyler Richey finished second to Curry in the pole vault. Sebastian Martinez placed second in the 800 meter race. Jorge De Leon finished second in the discus. The 4×400 meter relay team closed out the day and got the win for the team by also finishing in second place.
The Lady Rabbits highest finish was their third place in the 4×400 relay. The other two relays, the 4×100 and 4×200 meter, both finished in fourth place.
Individually the highest finish went to Callie Curry and Olivia Richey, who finished fourth in the 100 meter and 300 meter hurdle races.
Both teams compete at the district track meet this week. The final day, which will involve only the running finals, is scheduled for 5 p.m. on April 3 at Iowa Park.
Results for varsity athletes who finished sixth or better are listed in the mid-week edition of the Bowie News.
