Nocona track teams finish second at district

The Nocona track teams competed at the district track meet in Archer City on Thursday.
Both teams finished second overall to Windthorst, but had several athletes do well and move on to the area meet.
The Lady Indians saw defending state champion Graci Brown finish first in the long jump, the 400 and 800 meter races.
Meg Meekins won the 200 meter race.
The 4×200 and 4×400 meter relay teams also both won first at the meet.
The boy’s team also had its fair share of first place finishes. Caden Gaston won the long jump, the 100 and 200 meter races. Kyle Waters won both the 400 and 800 meter races.
Cooper Waldrip won the 300 meter hurdles. Freddy Duran won the 1600 meter race.
The 4×400 meter relay team also finished first in its race.
All individuals who finished fourth or better in their event move on to the area meet, which is scheduled for April 11 at Graham.
Results for individual varsity athletes who finished sixth or better are in the mid-week edition of the Bowie News.
