Bowie boys finish third at district track meet

The Bowie track teams competed at the district track meet this week at Iowa Park and had a slew of athletes qualify for area.
The boy’s team finished third overall and the girl’s team finished seventh overall.
The Lady Rabbits saw Harlei Hudson place third in the 100 meters as she moves on to area. She also joins the 4×200 meter relay team that finished fourth and is moving on as well with Bailey McGlothlin, Callie Curry and Melissa Martinez.
The boy’s team had three athletes finish first in their events. Tucker Jones won the 110 meter hurdles.
Braden Rhyne then beat Jones by a hundredth of a second to win the 300 meter hurdles.
Tyler Richey then won the pole vault event as well, moving on with teammates Case Curry and Griffin Richey who finished second and fourth.
Other area qualifiers for Bowie include Sterling Harrington finishing third in the shot put, Alex Castro getting fourth in the 1600 meters, Russell Anderson placing fourth in the 400 meters and Rhyne getting third in the high jump.
Jones, Rhyne, Richey and Anderson also qualified in the 4×400 meter relay as they finished third overall.
The area meet is scheduled for April 11 at Breckenridge, where a top four finish will be needed for athletes to qualify for the regional meet.
