Nocona City Council approves NEDC requests

Members of the Nocona City Council handled a brief slate of business on Feb. 11.
A trio of Nocona Economic Development Corporation requests were approved. Kyle Reynolds was reappointed to the Type A board, while Billy Henley, Rusty Fenoglio and Sandra Reynolds were reappointed to the Type B board.
Chuck Hittle also was named as the council representative on the Type B board. He replaced Donnie Davis who resigned from the NEDC board.
And a $5,000 loan to Circle F Salon was approved to purchase furniture and equipment for the new beauty salon.
A new franchise agreement with Texas-New Mexico Power Company was accepted. It is for a five-year term and there were no changes to it.
The Nocona Gas Junkies asked for extended hours for races at the Indian Valley Raceway on April 19. City Secretary Revell Hardison said the street racing reality show “Street Outlaws” will be renting the track for a race and the Gas Junkies have projected this event could bring up to 4,000 people into town. The group also is looking at a multi-day race in the next future.
