Sheriff welcomes two new deputies

The Montague County Sheriff’s Office has added two new deputies to its ranks: Ian Hostetter and Peter Meier.
Both officers have previously worked for the sheriff’s office in other capacities and have demonstrated strong work ethics and excellent job performance.
Hostetter and Meier graduated from the Vernon College Police Academy on June 12. Completing the nine-month training program requires dedication, determination, and a commitment to public service. Both officers successfully passed the Texas Peace Officer Licensing Exam. Congratulations to them for reaching this important milestone.
Ian Hostetter graduated from Nocona High School in 2022. He began his career with the Montague County Sheriff’s Office in 2023, first working in detention and later in communications. Sheriff Marshall Thomas said from the start, Ian has shown a strong desire to become a peace officer.
Peter Meier graduated from high school in Friedburg, Germany in 1991 and earned his degree from the University of Friedburg in 1994. He served as a rescue diver in the German Navy from 1994 to 1998. Meier joined the Montague County Sheriff’s Office in 2018 as a detention officer and has expressed his desire to become a peace officer from his first day on the job.

A BOIL WATER NOTICE remains in effect for City of Bowie, TX water customers along Highway 81 from Parker Road to Old Bowie Lake. Affected customers should use bottled or boiled water for drinking, cooking, or brushing teeth. Results of water testing should be available shortly after noon today. If the testing is good, the BOIL WATER NOTICE may be lifted shortly thereafter

Repairs prompt boil order

A boil water order was implemented Monday afternoon for the area served at U.S. Highway 81 from Parker Drive to Old Bowie Lake as water line repairs were made. The order remains in place today. If you are affected by this order and need bottled water call 940-977-4941.
