Forestburg and Saint Jo ready community meals
While Thanksgiving may be a week away, three communities are celebrating a week early with special meals.
Both Forestburg and Saint Jo will host their community Thanksgiving dinners on Nov. 20, while the Nocona Senior Citizen Center will have it noontime feast also on Nov. 20.
The senior center will present its annual Thanksgiving feast at noon on at 400 Boston Street. Cost is $10 for adults, $5 for children 12 and under, children four and under free.
The staff asks that you RSVP to 825-3148. Dine-in or to-go orders available.
The citizens of Forestburg will gather for their annual dinner at 6:30 p.m.in the community center. Turkey, ham, dressing, gravy, bread and drinks will be furnished. Guests are asked to bring their favorite salad, vegetable dish or dessert.
The Saint Jo Community will host its annual dinner at noon on Nov. 20 in the civic center. Organizers will provide the turkey, ham, dressing, gravy, bread and drinks. Guests are asked to bring your favorite side dishes (vegetables, salads or desserts) to complete the meal. Donations are appreciated. Food may be dropped off at the civic center that morning.

Thanksgiving Day
Members of the First
Baptist Church of Nocona will provide a free hot meal to go on Thanksgiving Day. Meals will be available from 10 a.m. until they are gone. The church is located at 511 Cooke Street in Nocona.
On Nov. 27 Bowie’s community dinner will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Nov. 27 at the First Methodist Church, 1515 North Jefferson.
The public is invited to share this free meal or or carry-out. Delivery orders were taken until noon on Nov. 26.
COUNTY LIFE
Commissioners to meet on Oct. 12
The Montague County Commissioner’s Court will meet at 9 a.m. on Oct. 12 in the County Courtroom at the Courthouse Annex in Montague.
Commissioners are scheduled to consider issuing a proclamation declaring October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month within Montague County.
The court also will consider accepting $850 in unanticipated revenue for the sheriff’s office generated during National Night Out activities, alongside interlocal cooperation contracts between the Texas Department of Public Safety and Justices of the Peace for Precincts 1 and 2.
An executive session is scheduled to discuss personnel matters pertaining to sewer/septic inspector for the county. Any action would be taken back in open session.

Art of the Song opens Friday
The Oct. 9-11 Art of the Song Music and Art Festival opens Friday night for three days of art and entertainment in downtown Nocona.
The festival opens on Oct. 9 with a Chisholm Trail Art Association Preview Party from 5 to 7 p.m. on Oct. 9 at the H.J. Justin Building.
Come see all the entries for the adult show, which formally opens at 10 a.m. on Oct. 10.
Live music will be played by Full Circle Band.
Also on Oct. 9 enjoy a Nocona Nights Street Dance from 7 to 9 p.m. with the Mark Murphey and Highway 82 Band. Cost is $10 per ticket and $200 for a table seating eight. Bring your lawn chairs.

Gold-Burg High readies homecoming events
