Things get a little nasty at this week’s Bowie City Council budget workshop

Published

on

Bowie City Council spent almost two hours Wednesday night going back and forth on a topic it had already decided on at a previous budget workshop, only to reverse itself and tackle no other issues.

At the July 8 five-hour workshop, the council directed the city manager to eliminate the category of part-time with benefits, which impacted six workers in various departments. Those employees include three at the library, one in meter reading, one in emergency management and one that shares duties with code/water/emergency management.

Estimated reduction to the budget was approximately $53,000, or .27 percent of the overall proposed operational budget of $19.2 million.
