COLLEGE SOFTBALL: More stars for NCTC game
North Central Texas officials announced Wednesday that University of Oklahoma senior Lauren Chamberlain and former Texas A&M All-American Amanda Scarborough have been added to the NCTC Softball Alumni Games.
The games will take place at 12:30 p.m. on Nov. 15 at Darwin Field on the NCTC campus in Gainesville.
The game will raise money for both the NCTC Angels in the Infield Scholarship Fund and the Softball Family Benefit Fund.
Chamberlain and Scarborough join other prominent softball dignitaries Jennie Finch, Lauren Lappin, Danielle Lawrie and Taylor Hoagland.
There will be two alumni games, and a home run derby in between.
Tickets to the game will cost $10 for adults and $5 for children, sold at the gate.
Cheri Kempf, the commissioner of the National Pro Fastpitch League, will also be in attendance.
Chamberlain paced the Sooners to the 2013 national championship, and a top-3 candidate for USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year.
This past season, Chamberlain powered through for a .950 slugging percentage and she has racked up 72 career home runs. She plays for Team USA.
Scarborough was the Big 12 Conference co-pitcher of the year as a junior and helped the Aggies reach the College World Series in Oklahoma City, Ok., twice. She has also served as an analyst on ESPN softball broadcasts.

McLennan to coach Saint Jo boys
New Saint Jo Boy’s Basketball Coach Terry McLennan said the school’s family atmosphere is what prompted him to join the Panther family.
“This is an opportunity to be an important program but also part of a great community,” McLennan said. “I’ve been looking to get back to a small town environment like the one I grew up in and played ball and this should do that.”
McLennan played basketball in Hubbard outside of Waco. McLennan comes to town after being the assistant girl’s basketball coach in Grand Prairie.
McLennan contends he’s a defensive style of coach but says his team will focus on intensity.

“I wanted to get back into the area,” Botard said. “It’s a good community.”
Botard graduated high school in 1995 from Del Valle High School, outside Austin, and went to Texas Tech. He started his coaching career in Lubbock followed by returning to his alma mater where he was an assistant for his high school coach.
