Citizens urged to take precautions with package deliveries

Published

on

Black Friday and Cyber Monday have come and gone, and now those holiday packages will begin arriving at your home.

Christmas may come early for thieves who steal packages off the doorsteps and its important to remember there are grinches out there just waiting to pounce.

Consumer Reports projects almost $20 billion in packages will be delivered during this holiday season through mail and delivery services. Even at $5 a package, that’s more than $100 billion in value, which is just simply too big a target for criminals to ignore.

The weeks leading up to Christmas are the busiest of the year for package delivery companies like UPS and FedEx, as well as the postal service.

Local law enforcement says each year during December thefts from residences go up, especially with packages left by delivery companies. Read how to protect your packages in the mid-week News.
