County commissioners decline precinct one request for $150,000 from emergency reserve

Published

on

Things get a bit tense among members of the Montague County Commissioner’s Court Monday as Commissioner Herman Conway sought an emergency budget amendment of $150,000, but his fellow commissioners declined to support the motion.

Conway said he wanted to move $150,000 from unincumbered emergency reserve into his regular operating budget.

He explained he does not know when funds from the Federal Emergency Management Agency or Texas Department of Transportation funds will come in, so he wants to move the funds so he can move forward with repairs on Star Mann Road and Lazy E, which have been closed since May. When he said that one member of audience remarked “yeah.” However, his fellow commissioners said they felt there was no emergency and there was still money to use in his budget.
