Bowie Hospital Authority receives one bid
At tonight’s meeting of the trustees of the Bowie Hospital Authority received one bid for the primary hospital building and its remaining auxiliary buildings for a bid of $1.5 million. The bid did not include the accounts receivables.
The bid came from Dr. Hasan Farid Hashmi and his son, Faraz Hashmi, of Texas General Hospital, a group that operates a hospital in Grand Prairie and one in East Texas. The group was one of the two bidders that came in back in the fall following the closure of Bowie Memorial, when the board opted to negotiate with The Brough Group the other bidder. A deal with Brough fell through when the group could never commit to the deal or prove its financial commitment.
The board directed Chief Executive Officer Lynn Heller to submit the bid proposal to the hospital attorney to review. Heller said since the bid package was prepared by the attorney, he anticipated he would get back to the board quickly with a review, possibly allowing a meeting by Friday.
No other action was taken as the board convened into executive session. See the mid-week News for the full story and the latest updates.
