Bowie Police conduct training exercises at local school
Members of the Bowie Police Department recently took part in active shooter training conducted after school hours at Bowie Intermediate School. Coordinated by Special Operations Sgt. Josh Wolfe, the training was an opportunity for officers to become more familiar with buildings in the districts, as well as different scenarios in the event of an emergency. Police Chief Guy Green said it also is a good team building exercise for the officers. In different role-playing exercises some officers played victim, while another officer may be simulating gunfire in another part of the building. Green said while they wish it was not necessary to do this type of exercise, the department wants to be fully prepared. They also do tabletop exercises as part of their training.
A BOIL WATER NOTICE remains in effect for City of Bowie, TX water customers along Highway 81 from Parker Road to Old Bowie Lake. Affected customers should use bottled or boiled water for drinking, cooking, or brushing teeth. Results of water testing should be available shortly after noon today. If the testing is good, the BOIL WATER NOTICE may be lifted shortly thereafter
A boil water order was implemented Monday afternoon for the area served at U.S. Highway 81 from Parker Drive to Old Bowie Lake as water line repairs were made. The order remains in place today. If you are affected by this order and need bottled water call 940-977-4941.
