Council to consider workshop to set up rules, procedures

Published

on

Members of the Bowie City Council will meet at 6 p.m. on Feb. 24 for a varied agenda of topics.
The council will consider setting a date for a council workshop on rules of procedures. On and off during the past few years, there has been discussion about establishing a set policy with different council members throwing out ideas, but no formal policy has been adopted.
Also on the agenda is consideration of a process for council members to have items placed on the agenda. In the last few years, several council members have challenged the way the city agenda is prepared explaining their requests have often been denied by the mayor.
Through the years the council agenda has been prepared by the city manager and then approved by the mayor and in more recent times some mayors have taken a more active role in preparing the agenda. Read the full story in the weekend Bowie News.
