The Montague County Commissioner’s Court Monday accepted a letter of resignation from 97th District Clerk Lesia Darden as she retires effective Dec. 31.
While action from the court was not necessary, County Judge Kevin Benton said it was a formality after District Judge Jack McGaughey named Chief Deputy Robin Woods to fill out the remainder of Darden’s term.
Darden told the court it has been her privilege to serve the last 17 years adding she would “miss everyone.”
Benton said he had worked with Darden through the years in many capacities, and “I have nothing but good to say about her.” Commissioner Bob Langford said while he may not have always agreed with her he respected her work and thanked her for her service.
