Building projects top BISD board agenda
Members of the Bowie Independent School Board will meet at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 24 for their February session which will focus on building projects.
Trustees will consider costs related to renovation of the former bus barn that will be home to the new county auto technology program. Additional renovations required architectural designs to bring the building up to code and to meet the needs of the program.
Marrs Patriot Construction has offered an estimated quote of $162,638.60 and if the board approves can begin work immediately in order to get the program started as soon as possible. The board also will consider authority for the superintendent to approve all change orders to contingency up to $25,000.
The district also will consider soliciting proposals for a construction manager-at-risk for construction of new administrative offices using a specifications package prepared by Harper Perkins Architects.
In other action items, the 2022-23 instructional calendar will be presented along with an interlocal agreement to provide pediatric and adolescent behavioral health services between Tarrant County Hospital District and BISD.
An executive session is scheduled to review Bowie ISD administrator contracts, with any action to follow back in open session.
Salli Page, BHS student services will provide a career technology program update. The board will look at bad weather make-up days, set the March board meeting and board training.
Information on the Texas Clean School Bus program will be presented, along with an update on tornado-related repairs to the junior high roof.
Administrator, curriculum and finance monthly reports will be given, including a discussion of the third grade relocating back to the intermediate where it was located several years ago.
