Commissioners meet Monday

Montague County Commissioners will meet at 9 a.m. on Nov. 27.
The court will consider a proposal from Lydick-Hooks for updating the electrical in the courthouse. This is a continuation of improvements being made to the courthouse’ infrastructure during the past two years.
The elections administration will present a joint resolution for the March 5, 2024 and May 28, 2024 primary election and runoff elections.
Other topics on the agenda will be the county’s enrollment in the Texas Association of Counties 204 certified cybersecurity course.
The court will change the date for its Dec. 25 meeting to Dec. 26 due to Christmas.
Precinct two will seek to enter the property of Kim Cunningham on Tage Road to clear a fence line.
The final plat for lots 1-10 at Redbird Estates subdivision will be offered for acceptance.
A budget adjustment for a bill from Syntrio for $1,615 will be up for payment from the contingency fund.

Repairs prompt boil order

A boil water order was implemented Monday afternoon for the area served at U.S. Highway 81 from Parker Drive to Old Bowie Lake as water line repairs were made. The order remains in place today. If you are affected by this order and need bottled water call 940-977-4941.

County finalizes the proposed tax rate, budget

While the budget was the primary topics for the Montague County Commissioners on Aug. 10, there were several other topics handled by the court.
Tax Assessor Collector Kathy Phillips presented the certification of value and rates for the 2026 taxes. The certified net values are $3,017,685,102 with rolling railroad stock at $15,954,716.
The county’s total taxable value is $3,033,639,818. Total appraised is $7,930,674,437, total assessed at $3,629,932,719 and total taxable value of new property at $93,632,505.
