Legislature changes update ID requirements for vehicle registration
The Texas Legislature has updated identification requirements for vehicle registration requirements, and Montague County Tax Assessor Kathy Phillips wants to make sure citizens understand what ID is needed for these transactions.
These changes are effective immediately. Any person wanting to process a registration will be required to present a valid ID. Individuals who send in their registration renewal by mail will now need to include a copy of their ID as well.
“They will need to verify their personal identity through one of the documents described below. If an individual renews online, the verification can be done by going to the Texas-by-Texas interface, which can verify that an applicant has a valid Texas driver’s license,” explained Phillips.

A BOIL WATER NOTICE remains in effect for City of Bowie, TX water customers along Highway 81 from Parker Road to Old Bowie Lake. Affected customers should use bottled or boiled water for drinking, cooking, or brushing teeth. Results of water testing should be available shortly after noon today. If the testing is good, the BOIL WATER NOTICE may be lifted shortly thereafter
A boil water order was implemented Monday afternoon for the area served at U.S. Highway 81 from Parker Drive to Old Bowie Lake as water line repairs were made. The order remains in place today. If you are affected by this order and need bottled water call 940-977-4941.
