Santa coming to Bowie on Saturday
For the past 34 years Bowie has been welcoming the Christmas holidays with a sparkling weekend of activities for the entire family.
This year will be no different as Bowie Community Development invites everyone to “Make a Joyful Noise,” for the Fantasy of Lights Festival on Dec. 5-6.
Theme for this year’s festival is “Make a Joyful Noise Songs of Christmas,” so guests can be assured there will be lots of festive music filling downtown.
The parade grand marshals will be the organizers of the Chicken & Bread Days Heritage Festival Fiddle Contest Ralph and Lois Harris and Marty and Jana Elmore.
Cindy Roller, director of Bowie Community Development, said Chicken and Bread celebrated its 30th year in October, so it seemed appropriate to honor those creating and coordinating this musical event during the holiday parade celebrating a musical theme.

A BOIL WATER NOTICE remains in effect for City of Bowie, TX water customers along Highway 81 from Parker Road to Old Bowie Lake. Affected customers should use bottled or boiled water for drinking, cooking, or brushing teeth. Results of water testing should be available shortly after noon today. If the testing is good, the BOIL WATER NOTICE may be lifted shortly thereafter
A boil water order was implemented Monday afternoon for the area served at U.S. Highway 81 from Parker Drive to Old Bowie Lake as water line repairs were made. The order remains in place today. If you are affected by this order and need bottled water call 940-977-4941.
