Brandt Cassetty, a recent graduate from Bellevue High, soaked up the competition like a wet sponge at the Texas 6-Man Coaches Association all-star boys’ basketball game Saturday.
“It was really intense to play in a game of this high caliber,” Cassetty said. “There are some very strong athletes in the small schools, and it was exciting I got to play at Midwestern State University.”
Cassetty fondly recalled competing at D.L. Ligon Coliseum in Wichita Falls in previous Christmas tournaments.
“I was comfortable with the lights and the crowd,” he said.
Brandt, who stands 5-foot-11, was certainly comfortable. He scored 10 points, grabbed six rebounds and dished off four assists as the team captain for the East squad.
“I think Brandt made us all proud,” said Bellevue Head Boys’ Basketball Coach Colby Broussard, who was among those in attendance along with a many others from this small Clay County community.
Cassetty made good on 5-of-10 shots from the field, but he missed all three 3-point attempts he took.
