County okays voting center application

Published

on

Starting with the November election, Montague County voters could cast ballots at any precinct in the county if its application for vote centers is approved by the Texas Secretary of State.

A public hearing was conducted on July 28 prior to the commissioner’s court meeting. Only three citizens attended and no comments were made.

Elections Administrator Brandi Shipman asked the court to consider applying for the vote centers program, which requires reducing the number of voting precincts, but expands opportunities to vote.

If approved, every registered voter could vote at any precinct, not just the one designated on based on their address. The voter could choose the most convenient location.
