HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL: Bowie boys’ mixed paces stymie Boyd

The Bowie High School boys’ basketball team has played a variety paces this season.
Sometimes they’ve been deliberate, as in the District 3A-9 opening win at Holliday. Sometimes they’ve been frenzied, as in a recent victory at Jacksboro.
Bowie used a mix of styles in a comfortable 53-22 victory over Boyd on Tuesday – in what was expected to be a more competitive game.
“Boyd played Nocona tough, so we thought it was going to be challenging,” Bowie head coach Doug Boxell said.
Boxell said now is the time to spread the floor and practice playing a deliberate game so the Jackrabbits will be more prepared for the postseason.
He admitted a team must be careful when spreading the floor to run an offense because shooters could get “out of rhythm.” Read more in the Jan. 23 Bowie News.
