When describing themselves, Joey and Jennifer Fluitt use the words “small hometown people” and “steady.”
Not exactly the type you would expect to sell their home and move across the country, but that is exactly what they will be doing as they head to Missouri to begin their life as missionaries.
Joey has lived in Bowie all his life and met wife Jennifer when they were just teenagers. Married 17 years, the couple has three beautiful children: Libby, Judah and Jace. The couple made Bowie their home, where Joey has worked in technology at Legend Bank for 20 years.
The Fluitts are no strangers to local missionary work. When the couple married in 1999, Joey was serving as a youth pastor at First Baptist Montague. He went on to be youth pastor at First Baptist Bellevue and served as interim at First Baptist in Electra before leaving the youth ministry.
They also volunteered for a decade with the Pregnancy Resource Center in Bowie, which Jennifer’s parents helped co-found. Joey gave his time as a member of the board and Jennifer served in various positions, from volunteer to director.
