The Bowie High School volleyball team won its district game of the season on Friday night with a four-game victory over Holliday.
The Lady Rabbits won by scores of 25-17, 21-25, 25-20 and 25-15.
The game was extra sweet for a team who came off a five set loss to Boyd in its second district game, bringing their record to 0-2.
“I felt like the kids were ready, we have never beaten Holliday in a district game at home,” said Head Coach Jeanie Stark. “After the loss to Boyd in five sets, they were eager to win at home. The team was consistent, with no big let downs.”
Even the second set lost by the Lady Rabbits was close with a score of 21-25. Stark admitted the serve-receive hurt them in that match, but the girls stayed in the moment.
“Overall, we stayed focus and locked in on our goal to win in four sets,” said Stark.
Addy Cook paced the Lady Rabbits with 34 kills, nine digs, one assist, two blocks and one ace. Meanwhile, Taylor Thompson contributed 38 set assists to the offense and seven digs on defense. Read more in the Sept. 21 Bowie News.
