FRIDAY NIGHT FINALS: Montague County Blues
Early in the fourth quarter, it appeared as if the Bowie High School football team was going to receive the football after a Brock fumble deep in Jackrabbit territory.
However, the officials reversed their original call and awarded Brock the ball.
The Eagles scored a short time later en route to a 36-26 victory over Bowie at Jackrabbit Stadium in District 4-3A-I action on Friday.
Quarterback Lawson Mickler hooked up with Jesse Vaughn on a pair of TD passes in the second half as the Jackrabbits attempted to stay stride for stride with the Eagles.
However, Brock pulled away by outscoring Bowie 15-6 in the fourth quarter.
Kevin Stallcup scored his sixth touchdown of the season on a short run in the opening frame.
Bowie dropped to 1-6, 0-2 in 4-3A-I. The team will play at Breckenridge on Oct. 24 at 7:30 p.m.

McLennan to coach Saint Jo boys
New Saint Jo Boy’s Basketball Coach Terry McLennan said the school’s family atmosphere is what prompted him to join the Panther family.
“This is an opportunity to be an important program but also part of a great community,” McLennan said. “I’ve been looking to get back to a small town environment like the one I grew up in and played ball and this should do that.”
McLennan played basketball in Hubbard outside of Waco. McLennan comes to town after being the assistant girl’s basketball coach in Grand Prairie.
McLennan contends he’s a defensive style of coach but says his team will focus on intensity.
