AREA VOLLEYBALL ROUNDUP: Saint Jo pushes Valley View

The Saint Jo High School volleyball team pushed Valley View to four games, but the Lady Eagles defeated the Lady Panthers by scores of 25-14, 9-25, 25-11, 27-25 in this District 2A-10 match.
“Valley View was a tough competitor for us,” Saint Jo head coach Kristi Tallon said.
Tallon was pleased with the Lady Panthers effort in the loss.
Saint Jo dropped to 11-20, 5-7 in 2A-10.
The Lady Panthers had the daunting task of taking Lindsay, the fourth-best team in Conference 2A according to the Texas Girls Coaches Association, on Friday night.
Karla Fernandez had a team-best 14 assists while Hunter Tallon added 12 helpers in Saint Jo’s 6-2 offense. Paige Dauscher chipped in with seven digs.
Tallon also had four kills and four digs. Sarah Patrick played a strong match with seven kills and seven digs, and she also had a solo ace block.
Collinsville extends Forestburg’s losing skid
Collinsville swept Forestburg in three games in a District 2A-10 match on Tuesday evening by scores of 25-22, 25-20, 25-15. Read more in the weekend Bowie News, including Bowie-Nocona JV and Bowie Junior High volleyball.

Prairie Valley hosted its high school awards banquet on May 9. The O.C. Mann Award went to Josh Stout and Linzie Priddy.

Gold-Burg High School hosted its awards banquet on May 22. The Gold-Burg Iron Bear Awards went to Eli Freeland-White for boy athlete and Hallie Nelson for girl athlete.

Richey headed to National Finals

Bowie’s Cason Richey (right) and his horse Hello Lashes, qualified for the College National Finals Rodeo this month. Richey competes in team roping as a part of the Texas Tech University rodeo team as a freshman. The CNFR is scheduled for June 15-21 at Casper, WY.
