City of Bowie selects real estate broker to sell land

Published

on

The City Bowie received only one real estate broker interested in marketing for sale the nearly 10 acres of property located at the corner of U.S. Highway 287 and Farm-to-Market Road 1125.
In March the council asked the mayor to gauge interested from local brokers who would like to go into a drawing to select a company to sell the property. The 9.59 acres was purchased back in August of 2014 for $178,840.
Mayor Gaylynn Burris said she received one no and one yes, while the rest of those contacted did not respond. Jones Real Estate will serve as the land broker. The selection was approved by the council with Arlene Bishop abstaining due to a family relationship.
Summer activities
Those seeking the cool water of the city pool will be able to do it bit cheaper this summer as the council lowered fees, which were increased two summers ago.
Admission went down from $4 to $3 for all ages. Pool passes went from $65 to $60 for city residents; from $75 to $70 for non-residents and from $120 for a family of three to $115, at $5 for each additional person.
