City of Bowie losing seven employees to retirement
As 2014 comes to a close, the City of Bowie says good-bye to seven employees with combined full-time experience of 148 years.
These long-tenured workers took advantage of an early buy-out program offered through the city to take advantage of the current mortality tables used by the Texas Municipal Retirement System.
Starting Jan. 1 2015, the mortality tables will change to longer-lived morality tables, which will lower the amount of monthly annuity payments retired employees receive.
A reception will honor these retiring employees from 2 to 4 p.m. on Dec. 29 at the city community room. The public is invited to attend.
