Court may have to fill JP1 temporarily

Published

on

Due to COVID-19 issues, Montague County Commissioners will need to consider hiring a person to temporarily handle the duties of justice of the peace one.
County Judge Kevin Benton said Judge David Allen is in the hospital being treated for the virus, and Justice of the Peace Two Jack Pigg has just returned to work after about with the virus. Both offices have been closed with Benton doing double duty.
An executive session is scheduled for the 9 a.m. meeting on Jan. 25 to take action on this personnel issue.
In its regular agenda the court will discuss moving the Nocona H.J. Justin Building county-wide vote center to the Nocona Community Center. Benton said city officials approached Elections Administrator Ginger Wall with that request noting with all the special elections there have been conflicts with events already scheduled in the Justin building. Relocating to the community center, which was a former voting location in the past, would avoid some of those conflicts.
Sealed bids for unleaded gas and off-road diesel fuel will be opened, along with bids for rock hauling by the hour or ton.
A replat for lots 19 and 20 in Top-O-Lakes Estates will be examined, along with a request in precinct four to vacate the last 400 feet of Weaver Road per the state transportation code.
Renewal of the CareFlite group membership for county employees will be considered.
