Nocona
The Nocona Lady Indians blew out Howe on Friday night.
The Lady Indians won 69-27 against the overwhelmed Lady Bulldogs.
The first three quarters saw Nocona score 19 or more points in each one. Howe only scored in double-digits in the third quarter, more than doubling its first half total.
Skyler Smith led the team with 19 points and six steals.
Megyn Meekins recorded a near triple-double scoring 17 points, passing for 12 assists and had a team high nine rebounds.
Sydnee Mowry joined them in double-figures scoring 10 points and Jolie Rose nearly did too scoring nine points.
Saint Jo
The Saint Jo Lady Panthers finished with a positive record at their hosted tournament last week.
The Lady Panthers went 3-2 overall, with one of the wins coming against one of the teams it lost against.
Saint Jo picked up wins against Newcastle 51-25 and Savoy 44-23 in pool play. The next day saw the Lady Panthers lose to Sacred Heart 48-31.
Against Petrolia it was even worse losing 66-33.
This set up a rematch against Sacred Heart. Despite losing to the Lady Tigers by double-digits the previous day, Saint Jo instead won by more than 30 points 66-32 on Saturday to go out of the tournament on a positive note.
Gold-Burg
The Gold-Burg Lady Bears got some good competition at the Saint Jo tournament last week.
The Lady Bears went 1-4 overall, but hung close with several good teams.
Gold-Burg first played district opponent Prairie Valley and lost 42-31.
The other pool game on Thursday was against a Petrolia team that would go on to win the tournament. The Lady Bears lost 66-47, but had several good scoring performances.
The final pool game against Tioga saw Gold-Burg lose 56-47.
During bracket play, the Lady Bears blew out Savoy 54-11 for a chance to play for the silver bracket championship against Newcastle.
Against a 1A playoff team that has an athletic post player, Gold-Burg had a chance to win late in the game, but ultimately fell short 47-42.

The Montague Lady Eagles Court Queens ended their volleyball season in royal fashion as both the A and B teams traveled to Saint Jo and closed out district play undefeated. After a season filled with hard work, determination, and impressive performances, the Lady Eagles saved some of their best volleyball for last.
The A Team’s final match was nothing short of thrilling, as the Lady Eagles battled through three hard-fought sets to defeat Saint Jo 25-20, 13-25, 15-10. With the match coming down to the wire, the Lady Eagles showed tremendous heart and teamwork to secure the victory and complete a perfect district season.
With six-rotation setter Kynzlea Rios out, sixth-grade setter Autry Jennings was called upon to step into a major role. Jennings rose to the occasion, dishing out a personal-record 12 assists and helping lead the Lady Eagle offense.
Montague turned in an outstanding performance from the service line, serving an impressive 90% as a team. Sage Keck, Molly Romine, Autry Jennings, Carley Richardson, and Braizlynn Hutto each served a perfect 100%, while Cayde Harris led the team with four aces.

Revenge was on the mind of Bowie’s volleyball team when City View came to town Oct. 13.
The Lady Mustangs handed the Lady Rabbits their first District 6-3A loss in the initial match last month. Bowie, fighting hard for a playoff spot, defeated Vernon for the second time and brought its district record to 4-3 with a 3-0 homecourt win (25-23, 25-22, 25-16).
The Lady Rabbits led or were tied most of the match. Serenity Klump’s four-point string, aided by frontcourt work by Abby Reneau and Olivia Stewart, staked Bowie to a 7-2 lead in the opener. Single points by Olivia Richey and Reneau helped extend the lead to 12-7. Kills by Stewart and KP Rutherford kept City View from mounting a comeback early.
The visitors would tie the match at 16 before Bowie broke serve. Gracelyn Russell’s single and a Reneau deuce forced a City View timeout down 21-17.

Bowie has begun to show signs it wants a playoff spot.
After Head Coach Tyler Price challenged his Rabbits in the District 4-3A Division I opener and questioning their want to following a loss to Peaster, Bowie turned things around in the first half against Paradise.
The Rabbits overcame a 14-0 deficit to take a 15-14 lead. Paradise took the lead back before the half and never relinquished it in a closer than it looked 37-15 Panther win Oct. 16 at Jackrabbit Stadium.
Bowie is 4-4 and 0-2 in district play with the Panthers 2-0 in the loop. Price said after the game he felt better about his team’s want to but said some things have got to change if a playoff spot is in the cards.
