Bowie band advances to area contest

Published

on

Bowie High School’s Mighty Marching Maroon Band received straight ones or superior ratings during Saturday’s University Interscholastic League marching contest and will advance to the area round with a chance to advance to state.
Director German Torres said they were very happy with the great performance Saturday stating it was the 60-member band’s “best performance thus far.” M3 is performing “Twisted” based on a haunted carnival. The show is completed with props and lots of story along with music.
The area contest will be Oct. 28 at C.H. Collins Stadium in Denton. There will be a preliminary and finals format. Torres said Monday there were 19 bands participating, however, they have to wait until Oct. 18 to find out about the last 10 3A bands that will compete that morning or afternoon. Once they compete the executive secretary will send out the schedule Wednesday or Thursday morning.
