2024 Party Primary filing to begin

Published

on

The 2024 national elections are already looming large, but state and county election filing also begins Nov. 11 and will run one month.
Party primary elections will take place in March 2024 and those winners will then face the November general election.
Montague County Elections Administrator Ginger Wall said the following county positions will be up for election in 2024: 97th District Judge and District Attorney, county attorney, sheriff, precincts one and three county commissioners, precincts one and two constables, county tax assessor and Democratic Party chair.
Mark Neese is chairman of the county Republican Party and there is no organized Democratic Party with a chairman. Those wishing to run in the Republican primaries file with Neese and those wishing to run as Democrats file with the state party.
Neese said there are plans for a “Meet and Greet” during the county party’s regular monthly meeting on Nov. 16. He said a notary will be on hand if someone would like to formally file with the party chair at that time. It will be 6:30-7:30 p.m. on Nov. 16 in the courthouse annex.
Neese may be contacted at 817-713-5773.
