Even though Nocona earned the win, Indian second-year head coach Brent Lewis expressed some displeasure with the team’s performance in this competitive game.
“We didn’t hit the ball very well,” he said. “But they battled, got some key hits and came out on top.”
Both teams were in a scoreless gridlock until the fourth inning, as City View opened scoring with a pair of runs.
The Indians responded with RBI doubles by Zach Trentham and Kameron Hill in the bottom of fourth en route to a 4-2 lead.
Trentham grounded out to first base in the fifth inning to score Jaxon Phipps, making the score 5-2. City View was shut out the final two innings for the win.
Jeremy James was credited with the win. In seven innings pitched, James allowed two runs on three hits while walking two and striking out three. Read more in the mid-week Bowie News.
