Wise County Sheriff David Walker told The Wise County Messenger that  his officers were assisting Montague County Sheriff’s Office in a pursuit when Pepper, one of the department’s two  dogs, was shot by the suspect.

Walker said Montague County sheriff’s deputies and Bowie police officers tried to stop a man they knew had warrants. He fled and there was a pursuit that ended in the area of Pickett Run Road and Aujla Road near Sunset  near Hwy. 101.
