County commissioners prepare to wrap up budget

Montague County Commissioners will meet at 8:45 a.m. on Aug. 24 for a public hearing on the 2015 proposed tax rate, followed by the regular meeting at 9 a.m.
The court is considering a tax rate of .42 cents per $100 in property value. The present rate is .3620 cents.
The agenda also includes a budget workshop as the court attempts to wrap up that proposal.
In the regular agenda the court will review the investment policy; consider an archive fee for the district clerk; look at two bids for property; distribute property capital credits and make several budget line item adjustments.

Heat advisory continues into Friday night

The heat advisory that has been in place all week continues until 8 p.m. Friday night.

The National Weather Service reports strong high pressure overhead will bring triple digit high temperatures along with heat index readings approaching 110 degrees for much of next week. To reduce risk of heat related illnesses when outdoors, schedule frequent breaks in shaded or air conditioned areas, and stay hydrated.

Make sure to check on your older neighbors to make sure they are staying cool and hydrates, and make sure pets have shade and water.
