Bowie City Council meets on Oct. 14

The Bowie City Council will meet in regular session at 6 p.m. on Oct. 14 in council chambers.
A public hearing on a rezone request made by Tommy and Trent Parr for 308 and 400 State Highway 59 S. and 301 and 303 Jones Street from single family residential with manufactured housing to light industrial will be presented. The planning and zoning commission will present its recommendation later in the meeting.
The P&Z also will offer a recommendation for a replat on Taylor.
City Manager Bert Cunningham will make his regular report on a variety of topics that include the public meeting on the planning grant, Chicken and Bread Days, raw water pump update, substation transformer, Rock and Pillar Street bridge and new fiscal year and audit.
An ordinance amending appointments and terms for members of the library board will be considered, along with one amending the 2024-25 budget for necessary revisions to accounting.

A BOIL WATER NOTICE remains in effect for City of Bowie, TX water customers along Highway 81 from Parker Road to Old Bowie Lake. Affected customers should use bottled or boiled water for drinking, cooking, or brushing teeth. Results of water testing should be available shortly after noon today. If the testing is good, the BOIL WATER NOTICE may be lifted shortly thereafter

Repairs prompt boil order

A boil water order was implemented Monday afternoon for the area served at U.S. Highway 81 from Parker Drive to Old Bowie Lake as water line repairs were made. The order remains in place today. If you are affected by this order and need bottled water call 940-977-4941.
