Chicken & Bread’s 30th year one of the biggest ever

Published

on

The Chicken and Bread Days Heritage Festival 30th edition was a tremendous success with one of the largest Sip & Stroll events in its history, as well as downtown streets overflowing with families enjoying all the festivities.
Hosted by Bowie Community Development, Executive Director Cindy Roller said they, “Had the perfect recipe for success between weather and activities.”
A total of 33 merchants participated in the Fall Harvest Sip & Stroll With Me on Friday night. There was not a parking place to be found in downtown Bowie throughout the evening as guests strolled through participating merchants enjoying munchies and drinks. Funds raised through Sip & Stroll go to beautification projects.

Saturday opened to a beautiful fall day with 154 cars, just shy of the 170 car record several years back. Cars of all vintages filled the downtown streets, along with many vendors selling their goods. Fiddle music wafted out of the fire hall during that competition and kids screamed with joy and disaster during the pumpkin sweep and egg toss.
