Delinquent tax fees jump higher on July 1
If you owe delinquent property taxes, you may want to take steps to make some form of payment to avoid the additional 15 percent fee that goes in on July 1.
While the general tax deadline was Jan. 31 before any penalty and interest was assessed, the rate has grown incrementally by the month with it topping 15 percent in June.
However, on July 1, the penalty and interest goes to 18 percent, plus an additional 15 percent of the total for additional collection costs.

Postal workers conducting food drive on May 11
Members of the United States Postal Service will conduct their annual food drive on May 11.
It is a food drive as close as your mailbox, all you have to do is place your non-perishable food items near your mailbox. The letter carrier will do the rest.
This is the annual event that takes place the second Saturday in May. Donations stay in your community. Help stomp out hunger, spread the word.
