Hospital district petitions circulating; Gold-Burg ISD added to proposal
Petitions are now being circulated that support a request from Bowie Memorial Hospital for the county commissioners to call a tax district election.
Lynn Heller, interim chief executive officer for Bowie Memorial, completed the petitions and made them available to the public Wednesday.
The petition requires at least 100 qualified signatures of registered voters in either Bowie or Gold-Burg School Districts, which are the boundaries of the proposed hospital district.
Heller said this petition does not state a specific tax rate, but does state the district shall impose a property tax that shall not exceed .40 cents per $100 in property value. No sales or use tax shall be imposed.
Heller said he would like to have them back to the hospital by July 8 so they can be put together for submission to the county judgeto begin the verification process. BMH would like to get the hearing before the commissioners as soon as possible.
