HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL: Bowie bounces back

The Bowie High School baseball team snapped out of its recent offensive funk this week, scoring 45 runs in four games.
All the firepower helped the Jackrabbits come away with a 3-1 record during spring break week, including District 3A-9 victories over Jacksboro and City View.
Bowie improved to 8-7-1, but more importantly 2-0 in 3A-9. The Jackrabbits get a double dose of home cooking next week, Paradise on Tuesday and Jacksboro on Thursday.
“We needed to start having better at-bats,” Bowie head coach Ryan Rogers said. “I think we did that. We did better when we had two strikes in the count, and we battled. We kept the ball in play, and it all worked out for us.”
Kamry Weber was a showpiece in Bowie’s line-up this past week, with 10 RBIs – a figure some high school kids don’t reach for an entire season.
“Kamry’s been a leader in several categories for us,” Rogers said. “The ball has been like a beachball to him, and he’s done an outstanding job.” Read more in the March 19 Bowie News.
Bowie’s Chandler Dean rounds third and is congratulated by head coach Ryan Rogers after hitting a two-run home run in the fourth inning of Tuesday’s District 3A-9 game at home versus Jacksboro. (News photo by Eric Viccaro)
