Area high school football teams peeled back the curtains this past weekend, unveiling their squads with scrimmages.
Saint Jo squared off with Westlake Academy, a private school that plays in the Texas Christian Athletic Fellowship group, on Friday in Saint Jo.
Gold-Burg faced Wichita Falls private school Notre Dame and Nocona challenged Windthorst on a cloudy Saturday morning.
“I thought we did some good things,” Nocona head coach Brad Keck said. “The defense made mistakes. But, there was good effort and hustle all around.”
Forestburg, aside from Bowie, was the only other team to scrimmage on the road this past weekend. The Longhorns traveled two hours west to rural Vernon, taking on Northside and Paint Creek.
Nocona’s players are learning new positions and terminology under first-year defensive coordinator Jon Shaw.
“We’re doing some tweaking,” Keck said.
