Montague County 4-H presents annual honors
Montague County 4-H celebrated its members, club leaders and parents during the annual awards banquet Sunday afternoon at Montague.
The banquet had a safari-theme touching on how everyone in the herd helps them to survive and thrive.
The year’s top award, the Gold Star, went to Kincaid Johnson, Prairie Valley 4-H and president of the county 4-H Council.
The Silver Star for intermediate members went to Ryder Oswald, Nocona. The Bronze Star for junior members went to Baile Nobile and Spencer Jarosz, both of Saint Jo.
Carolyn Bell, longtime secretary for the AgriLife Extension office who retired this past year, was presented with the Friend of 4-H award.

Bowie, Nocona libraries wrap up summer reading this week
Local libraries wrap up their children’s summer reading programs this week.
The Bowie Public Library brings the popular Creature Teacher with all their spectacular animals for the final event on July 23 at the Bowie Community Center.
The program begins at 10 am. The children also will receive their prize books for their summer logs.
The Nocona Public Library ends its program at 10 a.m. on July 24 at the H.J. Justin Building at 100 Clay Street. The program will be “Our Own Action Heroes -” Nocona fire, police and EMTs.
