The Nocona High School boys’ and girls’ basketball teams and Bellevue boys traveled to Windthorst earlier this week to participate in a two-day tournament.
The three teams advanced to the championship bracket Tuesday with two games being played between them.
Nocona’s girls earned the consolation title with a 61-30 win.
“I think that was one of our better performances of the year,” said head coach Brad McGann.
The 31-point win, McGann felt, was a great ending to the tournament Nocona performed well in.
“We put a string of good games together; they felt more complete. There were even some little victories in that loss [to Hirschi].”
McGann said the girls improved on blocking out and creating more second-chance baskets for themselves.
“We improved defensively, also. We continue to work on getting more consistent shooting,” he added.
Victoria Fatheree paced the team with 12 points along with two rebounds, two assists, three steals and a block.
