Workman watch

Former Bowie High School and current Boston Red Sox pitcher Brandon Workman suffered his first loss of the season on Friday against the New York Yankees.
The Yankees defeated the Red Sox 6-0.
It marked Workman’s first start since serving his six-game suspension for nearly hitting Tampa Bay third baseman Evan Longoria with a pitch on May 30.
This certainly wasn’t Workman’s best performance of the season. He allowed four earned runs and seven hits to go along with five strikeouts and two walks in seven innings of work.
Kelly Johnson and Brett Gardner both tagged Workman for a home run.
Workman threw 108 pitches, his longest outing of the 2014 campaign.
Overall, Workman has a 1-1 record and 3.27 earned-run average.
Workman was scheduled to make his next start today against Travis Wood and the Chicago Cubs at Fenway Park.
The game will be at 6:05 p.m. Central Daylight Time, and televised on ESPN. This is a regular feature of The Bowie News.
