Bowie High School athletic director Dylan Stark decided to stay in-house, naming Glen Dunnam as the head baseball coach.
Dunnam had served as the Jackrabbits’ top assistant coach the past two seasons under Ryan Rogers, who accepted a job as assistant baseball coach at Conference 6A Lake Travis about a month ago.
Stark said familiarity sold him on Dunnam, who had been the head baseball coach in Bowie for a two-year stint earlier this decade (2012 and 2013 seasons).
“He loves the sport of baseball, and he’s great with the kids,” Stark said. “I think it’s a good fit. I think the kids will respond to him.”
Stark reported he received about 15 applications for the head baseball coaching vacancy.
In addition, Bowie has rounded out its staff as Stark reported the hiring of Frisco Independence assistant coach Josh Harden as a new assistant. Josh Kreger remains on staff as head JV coach.
Dunnam said, from a position standpoint, there won’t be any changes. He will continue working with the pitchers, Kreger outfielders and Harden is set to coach infielders. Read more in the July 5 Bowie News.
