County teams prepare to open district play

Bowie and Nocona High School football had built-in bye weeks this past Friday, giving them two weeks to prepare for the district season opener this Friday night.
For the smaller schools, Gold-Burg earned its first win of the 2017 season, while Forestburg continued its winning streak with a victory over Savoy and Saint Jo fell to Throckmorton.
Now, four of the five will play district openers this Friday.

The Bowie Jackrabbits are set to open the 2017 district season at home against the Boyd Yel-lowjackets with kick-off at 7:30 p.m. as they come out of the off-season with a 1-4 record.
“The first district game is always really exciting,” said Bowie Head Football Coach and Athletic Director Dylan Stark. “We played a really tough non-district to prepare for district, and this is when it counts. We are definitely excited to get started.”
